SHARMAN FOX got her first passport at six weeks old, and from age 9 began accompanying her father, a professor of anthropology at Stanford University, on research trips and study tours to Norway, the Maya heartland, Peru, and Easter Island. In high school and college, she spent five summers in Latin America with Amigos de las Americas, living with local families in small rural villages and conducting volunteer public health work in conjunction with local ministries of health and non-governmental organizations. Along the way, she became fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, and took on increasing leadership responsibilities, culminating in the role of Project Director in Brazil.
After graduating with a degree in Painting and Drawing from Stanford, Sharman worked in the educational travel niche for 25 years, first for High Country Passage and then for Criterion Travel, during which time she designed, implemented and led a wide range of international study tours. She also managed a team of operations managers, oversaw new product development, and was instrumental in the growth and overall running of both companies.
Sharman founded FoxCraft Expeditions in 2020, offering expert trip design and tour operations consulting services. She has an endless curiosity about the cultural and natural riches of our amazing planet, as well as a passion for crafting innovative travel experiences, organizing complicated logistics, and solving problems on the fly.
